It’s unfortunate that so many people read this book just to fortify their belief that Scientology is a cult. What they missed was the story about the girl who became a woman and the horrors she had to endure. Try to empathize with her – what she went thru – and try to understand how hard it is to adapt to a life without Scientology when that’s all you’ve ever known. I was a child who grew up in Scientology just like her and left when I was 33. For 7 years I was unable to communicate or even talk to another ex-Scientologist or even tell someone my past because the first time I ever told someone they looked at me in scorn and told me I had been part of a cult. This book helped me personally deal with my own experiences. But if you buy and read it, please read it for the story of the woman. It’s heartbreaking and it’s true and horrible all at the same time. But the story is about the woman, not Scientology. And it’s a reminder that there are others like her, who need help, and the last thing they need is to be judged.
